Phone fraud, or more generally communications fraud, is the use of telecommunications products or services with the intention of illegally acquiring money from, or failing to pay, a telecommunication company or its customers. Many operators have increased measures to minimize fraud and reduce their losses. Communications operators tend to keep their actual loss figures and plans for corrective measures confidential.

Subscriber fraud

The biggest cell phone scam is known as subscriber fraud which is simply identity theft. This type of fraud causes the industry approximately $150M/year and causing a lot trouble to the victims.

Lost or stolen phone

Every year, around 3M cell phones are either stolen or lost in the US. These phones can be used to make unauthorized calls and it may cause the owner for example, $26K bill. Most of the smart phones carry a lot of personal information on them, including information of the people we care most. An alternative way to give damage to someone is information mining. Then, crooks program another phone with your personal information details as well as your cell phones unique details and make calls at your expense. What to do?
